MDW Aviation Associates, Inc. started in 1989 as a result of a multi-year, successful effort to find the "right" fluid to produce the intense and brilliant smoke desired on our giant scale models. Early smoke fluid attempts included experimentation with full-strength and mixes of diesel, corvus, mineral spirits, kerosene ... and, yes, even gasoline. (DO NOT try this yourself!) Over the years preceding 1989, we used these homemade combos as well as the few commercially available "smoke oils". We were never really satisfied. In 1989, the "right" fluid was identified and production and marketing began.
Initially advertised in print and only available via mail order, MDW in 1994 expanded its market by using national distributors, dealers and becoming an international supplier.
Today, Super*Dri® Aviation Smoke Oil is proudly used by an ever-increasing group of individuals interested in the excitement that "smoke-on" provides to the pilot and to the audience. You'll find our product at your local hobby shop and through national and regional distributors and dealers such as Great Planes and Horizon Hobbies.
